Default Fiesta Problems Starting Since New

Hi Everyone

We have June 2019 Fiesta Automatic Titanium on a19 plate 17,000 miles.

It was bought new.

Since new it has a problem starting. This can happen when either from a cold or hot start.

At infrequent times, when the start button is pressed it takes about 8-10 seconds to start. This is independent of whether starting from cold, whether in the garage.

There is no consistency as to when the problem happens.

The problem as been reported and the garage examined the vehicle. Unfortunately, when they connect the vehicle to the diagnostic computer is report no problems.

The problem is intermittent, so I cannot recreate the problem on demand.

Does anyone have any thoughts what the problem is or suggestions of how to deal with it?

One way to get to the problem might be to leave it with a good mechanic that can check it on the spot.

If course you can always wait until it gets so bad that it will be easier to pin down.

Sometimes , the test equip can be set up and then hope the problem can be spotted at the time it takes place.

Thanks, hanky.

We left it with the main dealer and they discovered nothing.

We have been and still are playing the waiting game, but I find it hard to believe that our car is the only one which suffers from this problem.

Thanks again for responding

Sometimes this is what we need to do.
A shop has to hook up a few pieces of equipment let the vehicle set a while, then as they go to start it record just what is /has happened. Until that can be verified, it is like shooting in the dark, hoping you can hit the problem. Because there are so many areas that can be involved it is almost impossible to say it is this or that..
We would hope a dealership could solve the problem, but if it takes a long time to find the problem and they can only charge so much, nobody wants to work for free..
That is one reason a good shop with the info ,equipment and desire to find the problem will be difficult to find. They are out there, just keep asking around and eventually you will find one that will accept the challenge and discover the cause.

Turn on the heater. Then Unhook both battery cables. Negative first. Then the positive. Now hold or tie both cables together for five minutes.
Turning on the heater will drain all the competitors.
Now hook up the positive cable first then the negative cable.
What all of this is doing is clearing all the information in the computer or PCM.

That is called a hard reset. it does sometimes get the gremlins out of the system.
