Have a 1997 FORD Aerostar I was having a little problem with the column gear shift. The van was not easily going into the proper gear and would sometimes roll forward or backward Found out there were sometimes a couple of screws that would loosen and sure enough that's what the problem was. I added a little lock tight re-installed screws everything was good. .Shortly thereafter the van started up on it's own!!! There where no keys in the ignition as well. So it would randomly start at any different time. I thought this is weird . It did come with the remote start but I never got the fobs when I purchased it. So it was only by waiting and observing that I noticed it seemed to have something to do with the garage door opener. The only way I could insure that it would not start during the night was to unhook one of the battery cables. Otherwise I would probably wake up in the morning dead which is even weirder !!! Well I still have to use the van tomorrow and drop it off to have Rust Stop applied I think I will remove the circuit board at the top window antenna .This is definitely the weirdest auto situation I have ever run into and remember keep your socks dry!
this is the van this is my property 10 ft high basement.
Not being completely familiar with that remote start system, If you can find/determine which fuse it uses ,just pull the fuse and see if that gets rid of the false start problem.
If other things are protected and affected by that fuse removal , the wire that provides power to the remote start assy will need to be traced and clipped . With no power it cannot work and start the engine.
