2000 excursion 4x4 hubs won't lock in

 

Replace the hub the condition you have is caused by corrosion of the hub body. Your hub should have 2 positions lock and auto. The auto system is operated by vacuum and trying to fix that hub can cause a vacuum leak making the auto system inop. It is simple to change just remove your center cap and squeeze the 2 tangs of the snap ring and pull out. Hope this helps
