Since no one has answered your post so far I will take a shot at it.
The first thing to do would be to disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
Next , This goes back some so I could be incorrect relying only on memory.
Depress the horn button and rotate it counterclockwise until it comes up (about a quarter turn).
Then you should see the plate with the horn contact wire that you can remove to gain access to the steering shaft nut.
The plate may be held down to the steering wheel with three screws which you need to remove.
Now you have access to the nut that holds the steering wheel to the steering shaft.
Take a center punch and place a punch mark on the steering wheel and one on the steering shaft so when it comes time to reassemble it , it goes back together the same way.
Remove the nut or if you don't have a steering wheel puller back the nut off until it is flush with the shaft. Place your knees under the steering wheel and while pushing the wheel up give one good rap on the nut with a hammer. The steering wheel should pop up from being jammed on the splines of the steering shaft. Now you can remove the nut and there should be no damage to the steering shaft. Off comes the steering wheel ! Boy I hope these directions are OK, its been a while since WOW a 1977 ??

77 has the 'wing' style rubber horn contact. Should be 2 screws on the back side of the steering wheel. 1 on each side..

Looks like a pretty good deal if it runs well.

70's was some of Ford's best iron. Worked on 'many' of them. Sure would like to find one here for my property as a work wagon. We'll keep an eye on your progress. I just started a resto on my 69 T/A as well..
