I Need Advice on Choosing Between the F-150 Hybrid and Lightning
Hello there,
I am in the market for a new truck and could really use some advice from experienced Ford owners. I am currently driving a 2015 F-150 XLT and it’s been a fantastic ride; but I am ready to upgrade to something newer and more eco-friendly. After doing some research; I have narrowed my choices down to the F-150 Hybrid and the F-150 Lightning.
I live in a suburban area and my daily drive is about 30-40 miles round trip. I occasionally take road trips; but they are not super frequent. I also haul stuff from time to time nothing heavy duty; just home improvement materials; furniture; or camping gear.
I am leaning towards the Lightning because I love the idea of going fully electric; and the frunk seems like an awesome feature. Although; I am a bit concerned about charging infrastructure in my area and how it performs on longer road trips. On the other hand; the hybrid feels like a safer bet in terms of range and fuel availability; but I wonder if I would regret not going all in on electric since that seems to be the future.
For those of you who have driven either of these models or both; what are your thoughts? How is the real world mileage/range compared to the advertised numbers? Is the Lightning practical for someone who does not have a home charging station yet?
Also, I have gone through this post; https://www.fordforum.com/forum/ford-forum-help-suggestion-center-9/could-someone-give-me-advice-choosing-between-devops-f-150-ford-ranger-49223/#post142475 which definitely helped me out a lot.
Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.

If I might,,,,,,an all electric is great, except if you run out of power no place near a charging facility and they haven't yet come up with a 5 gallon can of battery power. A hybrid will save you there. You might want to look into the battery life and replacement cost of the all electric vehicle battery. Right now believe it is in the area of around $6,000.00 dollars. Please let us know what you find and decide, thank you.
