My Poor Old 1998 Escort Wagon
Hi All,
Like this one turned out, I posted a rather Long-Winded post/thread on the Escort Forum and didn't really get much enthusiasm. I notice it really isn't a very active forum these days; posts are months apart. Well, if anyone is interested in reading my story go to the Escort forum, second post down, titled "Escort End Stage Cancer". My proof-reader friend says 'it's a good read". Unrealistically, I was hoping to find a replacement solid uni-body (frame) from the south west or a car from somewhere less wet, no road salt etc. with a bad drive train. My mechanic can swap for $2500.00. The car has been in my garage since Jan. 7th. Hope the wheels aren't seized up. So, at this point I think to abandon the project. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm learning to get by without a car but not easy, especially when I need to take care of my failing mom. It's either a replacement car or the property taxes next July. Any suggestions on getting the best price for it as is. I was planning on listing on eBay. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. There's a good candidate on that IAAI.com auction website in Jacksonville FL with one having a rear collision. I'd worry about the rear doors not lining up from impact, not sure if I can put the link here however, here is the Stock #: 41716210. I wonder if worth getting it up here to Cleveland OH? Airbags not deployed, no ignition key. Shipping probably more expensive with tire missing. Got a quote for $600.00 to ship...probably more. $200.00 to bid , shipping cost, sales tax, plus mechanic's labor...a big gamble, but it would be more fun if all went well. Can one good car be made from the two? I've been watching this type car on their auctions and one in better shape sold with a winning bid of only $25.00. No kidding. What ever...again thanks in advance for anyone's 2¢.
