while servicing the fluid in my 2003 mustang I found a part in the pan. IT is round about 3/4 inch in diameter with an oring on it . The shape is round but has a flat top and a post sticking out on it about 1 inch long, It is yellow in color. The transmission works ok as far as i can tell but I am concerned what this part is. Does anyone have a clue about this?

This is a tough one ya know !

All kidding aside, what you found is a plug that gets pushed in on assembly and causes no harm to the trans. Just can it if you like and keep up the good service to your trans.
