Default Restoring a '77 Ranger XLT

I have a 77 Ford Ranger XLT that I bought in 1977 in Alaska. I am in the process of restoring it and when we took out the instrument cluster plate that holds all of the instruments, it was so old it crumbled. We threw it out but never recorded the part number. I purchased a new one through LMC but the instrumentation plug would not fit the port on the plate. Sent it back and bought a different one. Same problem. Now LMC says they cannot help me. Is there anyone out there that has a solution? A different vendor, maybe?

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site...

Instrumentation plug on the plate? The instrument cluster plug?

The panel trim bezel doesn't have any plugs in its self that I recall...
Can you post a pic or two of the area?

Yes. My plug is larger than the opening in the new plate. And the plate is countered, which does not allow me to carve a half inch larger.

The only things that are electronic on that instrument cluster are the gauges and the cluster lights and of course the turn signal indicators

You might want to make sure that the truck was made in the U.S. and not in Canada. For some reason if it was made in Canada the parts for it may have to come from there as well. I have found that there is always something different when dealing with parts for any vehicle made by Canadians
