Default 2005 Ford Freestar handle

Hi,
The back hatch handle of my 2005 Ford Freestar has come off. I see others have had this problem. If any one has the schematic, I would be very great full to have a copy.
Thanks,
Scagdad

Hello,

This is my first time posting a message on this site. I hope that I am putting this in the right place.

I too, have a 2005 Ford Freestar. My rear handle came off today, just like everyone elses. (With all of the posts on the internet, I have seen, you would think that Ford would recall this part.) My 74 year old father tried to open my back door and it came off in his hand. Could you please email me the instructions to put it back on.
Thank you so much!

Have a great day,
Kittie

Default 2005 Ford Freestar handle

Hi,
With the help of drawings, thanks to minnesotamike, hailhong yang and Robert for sending them.
1.) I was able to open the hatch using 2 long needle nose pliers. You will need a flashlight to see the tabs in the handle holes.. Need to pull both at the same time.
2.) I was then able to remove the 4 screws that hold the back hatch inside moding. There were 2 screws in the lower corners and 2 holding the inside handle.
3.) I then removed the molding with a screw driver prying off the remaining press clip type attachments.
4.) I carefully removed the foam pad insulation.
5.) I then was able to see how the handle attached to the assembly. I was able to attach a nylon locking tie to the right side off the metal bar that engages the handle. The head of the tie is ~.25 inch and took up the slop which now keeps the handle and the bar engaged.
6.) I cliped off the excess nylon tie, greased the moving parts and reversed the assembly process. It works great.

I also need the liftgate repair info, anything anyone can send me would be great. I went to open it and the handle pulled right off. I can look into the handle holes, but when I pull the hooks, it doesn't open the door, doesn't make sense why that is, any help?
