I appreciate this resource you're moderating especially for the potential to save money. My back door handle came loose but not all the way off. I was able to push it back into place and judging by looking in that 2" access panel inside it seems to work but the hatch is not opening.

I too, have a stuck locking-latching mechanism on my 2004 Ford Freestar liftgate. Can you please send schematics and pictures to help me get the lock free and open the liftgate so I can repair it. The handle is still intact. Just doesn't open the gate.

Thanks for the warnings about the Freestar liftgate handle. I haven't had that problem on my Freestar yet but am now being careful to pull straight out on handle instead of lifting as I pull it. May not make a difference but it feels like it is not putting as much strain on the mechanism.

 

The rear latch to my 2004 ford Freestar will not lock. The handle is still intact. Would you please forward any information and diagrams that shows this mechanism. Thanks for your assistance. Dennis

I'm having a similar problem with my 2007 freestar, the handle is still attached be the latch will not disengage to allow me to open the rear hatch. I am attempting the posted solution, hopefully it works. Any info on how to prevent this from happening again?
