Nevertheless I got the schematics and fixed my problem. The mechanism was rusted and no longer moving, a lot of gear oil and grease got it working again.I was lucky, the actuator was still functional. Thank you for the help.
I wasn't talking to you.

Post 2005 Freestar - Lift gate handle...Off AGAIN!!

This would be the second time this has happened to me, the first time it cost me almost $300.00 to get the handle put back on. This time the handle is sitting in my back seat pocket & the back hatch hasn't been open since. We looked and looked for a way to open the hatch, we even looked in the owners manual.....nothing! My passenger side turn signal went out and no way to fix it, because the hatch won't open....well, my son in-law found an emergency release on the inside of the van on the gate and now I have a way to open my hatch and I got my turn signal fixed! Why hasn't Ford put a recall out on these lift gate handles?

Hayapower: I would also appreciate the information that you have regarding the correction for the liftgate handle issue. Thank you very much. Dan..

I'm curious how you are able to open the lift gate from inside the van. Can you explain? Thanks.

Dan,

To open the hatch from inside, pop open the 1" x 1" access hole towards the bottom of the door. When you look in there, you will see a white plastic lever. On mine, I just used a screwdriver to move that lever to the left and the door opened up.

You're welcome. Hopefully, you don't get too much snow for Thanksgiving. Have a good holiday.

I got the handle in hand problem last night after loading a double size bed into the back. Is there any way to fix this problem from the outside, or at least get the door open from the outside, as there is no way to reach the back door from the inside.
