Yes, I'm helping my Mom sell her Freestar (she had a stroke and has moved to assisted living). On the day someone is to come see the van and drive it, the handle came off in my hand!

Could you please send the detailed instructions on how I can fix it? I'm not very "handy" but I can follow instructions! I appreciate it so much!

When my handle came off, I just removed the inside tailgate panel and reattached the handle.

Hello everyone !!!
I'm new here! And always loved reading treads here so here I am !
Cannot believe how many people have the same issue that I have !
In my case , the latch never worked and the power lock was never plugged since I'm the owner of the van .
But I could still rely on my handle to open the lift gate.
So couple weeks back my boyfriend was using the van and the handle stayed in his hand !! I thought at that point that I could just go inside and kick the lift gate open seeing my latch never worked, but I guess I was wrong because now it's close shut,we undid the inside panel... I broke the Lil cable and the mechanism is nasty rusty , like falling into pieces !! And it's obviously still stuck. Anybody know of a way to just activate manually the latch so I can at least open my lift gate ?? Leaving for camping tomorrow lollll thanks guys !!! 😊😊

just to add, i had issues aswell, but handle did not fall off......mine just wouldnt open.....i crawled in back and opened small access panel, inside lock mechanism was very rusty, apparently water loves to get in there.....i just dowsed the whole mechanism with wd-40 and she opened right up.......so if anyone has issues like that, that works (for time being)......a new lock mechanism isnt cheap either, so wd40 is way cheaper route haha......still have no clue how so much water gets in there

 

need info about replacing my handle to my back hatch, please anyone that knows how to, i somehow broke mine off..

The handle for the back hatch of my FreeStar just came out in my hand. I have read the comments here and would be extremely grateful with any repair information I can get . Thanks in advance.
