I need to replace mine since it has stopped returning after I make my turn. Is this a pretty easy job? With the air bag right there, I want to make sure I can do this or should I take it to a shop and have it done? Any guides on the Internet? I looked but didn't see anything. Thanks.

 

I believe the turn signal switch assy is available as a unit and once you have an opportunity to look at it you probably could handle the job. You will need to look at your steering column just below the steering wheel and if there are a couple of screws that come out from under the plastic cover. you should be able to see this without disassembling very much. there are 2 bolts that generally hold the switch assy to the steering column. They may be allen head type. Its been a while since I've done one. There shouldn't be any reason to get involved with removong the steering wheel or air bag etc. If I recall correctly the plastic/nylon fingers on the switch sometimes break. I have never seen one that had both cancelling fingers broken. Is your signal switch only not cancelling one direction or both ? If it is both you may have a problem with the pin/ring under the steering wheel itself and that is more involved. If you are not familiar with proper procedures involving air bag systems i would suggest you let someone experienced with this do the job.,,,,hanky

Thanks for your reply. The turn signal is not working in both directions. If I take the original one off, is there a way to tell if the fingers are broken? Are they visible?

 

Now you're taxing my memory, but as I can best recall, yes you can see the fingers with the switch assy out. When you index the switch for a turn the finger extends out and can be easily seen. ,,,,,,,,,,hanky
