Default 2005 Ford Freestar

Hi, I have a 2005 ford freestar and it's having problems. After about 30-40 minutes of driving, if you're stopped and take off it has trouble accelerating. The rpm jumps to 3000-4000 rpms then it catches and starts picking up more speed. I just replaced the transmission thinking that was the problem but it's still doing it. Can anyone help me with this? Please

Why did you think it was the transmission?
How many miles do you have on it (about 100K, I guess). It probably needs a tune up with new plugs, wires, and coil pack. check for vacuum leaks and the IMRC control bushings as well.

It has 142,660 miles on it. I purchased it used last month and I only drove it for 2 days. I took it to my mechanic to check it out. Also when it started messing up, the powertrain malfunction light came on. The mechanic scanned it and he got a code for "gear 2 unbalanced ratio". He ended up keeping it to check it out more and he said the whole transmission would need to be replaced. So I ended up taking it to a mechanic that the dealer worked with because he agreed to pay for half. Took about 3 weeks to finally get it done and it's still doing it. The 2nd mechanic did say that I might need a new coil pack though.

There you go! Do all of this: plugs, wires, and coilpack. It is not all that expensive. The little bushings for the IMRC are $3 or $4.

By the ay the Freestar is a warmed over Windstar. Most Windstar information is applicable to the Freestar. Here is an example:
