Default A/c problem '04 freestar

Our 2004 freestar a/c compressor doesn't keep running, it clicks on then off gain over and over. This is after we put the a/c stuff in it and added some leak stop stuff. Any suggestions? Everything blows, just doesn't run long enough to cool the air.

You could have a leak in the system causing the refrigerant charge to go low. A low charge will cause the compressor to cycle off and on. The best thing to do, would be to evacuate the system, pull a vacuum, see if the system holds the vacuum. If it does, put a full charge of refrigerant back in. DO NOT ADD ANY OIL to the system if you have not lost any. You will liquid lock your compressor and trash it.

get the system checked. Adding refrigerant will ruin the system because it will be over charged. You most likely have a leak (bad hose) and need a new hose and orifice tube--along with oil and refrigerant. Its the large hose coming off the compressor that goes down along the bottom of the radiator--thats the one that leaks. See if its oily around the places where rubber and metal join---that is a clue---
