Can't read OBD codes
'05 Freestar--check engine light is on. I had two different shops connect their OBD reader but they can't read anything. It won't power up. One said the OBD fuse was blown. I checked all fuses designated as having anything to do with the PCM or OBD and all are fine.
Why is my OBD port dead?

Like just about all things electrical, two things need to be available . Power and ground.
If,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you checked the correct fuses,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and there was power to pin #16 of the DLC (Data Link Connector) , the other half of the diagnosis is to confirm the ground connections are good. Pins #4 & 5.

so finally found out that fuse #11 on the inside fuse box was the culprit to my issues
issues:
1 rear liftgate ajar
2 interior lights on
3 no connection to OBD
apparently this #11 controls all of this, so liftgate was open so the lights were on, and the OBD is an extra for the fuse, i double checked it to be sure and its only a 5amp fuse! dammit ford!
