FALL is already here
FALL is here! My money tree in the backyard is loosing all its leaves.
Got engine lights on with common P171 and P174. It could be several things, but I could excludes the MAF because I just replaced.
Urghhhhh!

Well, you've eliminated one possible cause.
Common Problems That Trigger the P0171 and P0174 Code. Other possible causes are as follows:
•PCM software needs to be updated
•Vacuum leaks (Intake Manifold Gaskets, vacuum hoses, PCV hoses, etc.)
•Low Fuel Pressure (Bad pressure regulator, or weak fuel pump)
•Plugged Fuel Filter
•Plugged or dirty Fuel Injectors
Have you run any fuel cleaner thru the system yet? I run a minimum of 1 oz. of AMSOIL P.I. per 10 gallons of fuel all the time.
Have you replaced the fuel filter yet? I replace mine every 25-30,000 miles. Always full of crud and I normally regain about 2 MPG. I'm at the point when I'm clocking the sporadic P171 & P174 codes and my mileage has dropped it's normal 2 MPG again. Time for a new filter for me.

Personally, I love my Freestar. They're not the only vehicle out there that has issues. Many MFG/Models have issues. Also, the older they get the more prone to problems from wear and tear, age, excessive temperature changes and anything else that can affect electronics and mechanical parts.
Also, since you didn't buy yours new, you really don't know how well it was actually take care of. Just hear-say...When buying used, you're rolling the dice on how well the vehicle was actually taken care of.
Since I bought mine new and am kinda **** about maintenance and keeping things looking/running like new, I know what all was performed/replaced on mine from day one.
I know folks that are or were aware of an issue that can cause future problems, but still do nothing about it and then blame the vehicle for the current problem they are having.

I would like to add a little something to Use Common Sense"s very accurate and worthwhile advice.
Not to discourage purchasing any used vehicle, There is , however, a lot of truth purchasing someone else's problem when you purchase some used vehicles especially late model ones.
Understandably , when a vehicle has a problem that has so far escaped determining the cause or will cost a bundle to repair , what do you suppose the owner does ? They either trade it or just get rid of it. Then some poor soul with limited funds says this deal is too good to refuse and they buy the problem. Sad , but true !
