Hello,

I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL. My car has been off the road for about two months. As I was driving down the highway my Power Steering Failure came to light. I didn't exactly know what this meant so I thought ok I won't shut off my car. I was 2 hours from where I needed to be. When I got to my location and shut my car off, that was that. I went to start it and then the beeping started, again - Power Steering Failure-, but this time my steering wheel was locked. I now cannot move the steering wheel and I have no idea what I need to do to fix the problem. My car is my transportation everywhere. I live 4 hours north of Winnipeg and I now have no car. Can anyone please help me get the Power Steering Failure problem fixed. I can't afford for someone to come all the way out to my car. Any useful knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thank you

 

Very first thing check the fluid level and sign for leaks.

Thank you for your response. If the fuel level is ok and there are no leaks what should I look for next?

 

Pretty sure your vehicle has ELECTRONIC ASSIST POWER STEERING.

There were recalls for problems with this steering set up.
You might try calling Ford Customer Svc at, 1-866-436-7332. There should be no charge for the repair.
