Replacing ABS Control Module/Pump Does it need to be Programed?
I have a 2009 Fusion that has the ABS light on. Took it to the dealer and they said that it is either the ABS control Module or the ABS pump that has gone bad. The code specifically stated the pump was bad but the mechanic felt that it was more than likely the control module. But nothing is for sure. We are talking about 1500 worth of parts and labor for a pretty old car. That being said, I do want to repair the issue. I am pretty handy and can do the swap of the parts my self. I can get a used matched ABS pump and control module on line for under $150. I can do the swap, bleed the breaks and be done. However do I need to do any programming of the module afterwards? Do I need to bring it into a shop to have this done? Will they do it considering that I did not purchase the parts from them?
actually you should head to ford dealer and ask about the dot 3 recall. the recall checks your abs control module for proper operation and if it fails, they will replace it free of charge. the recall changes the brake system from dot 3 to dot 4
