Ticking sound after work done
First time poster.
I have a 2014 Fusion with a 1.5L engine with 126250+ miles.
About two months ago I had to have the break switch replaced and while it was at the deal they suggested replacing the plugs and a fuel injector cleaning. When I got it back I heard a slight sound that began to get worse. Since going to Ford is an all day even I took it to my local mechanic. He told me it was the water pump, but he couldn't replace it because it required special tools to keep the timing in place and he didn't have them. I called three Ford dealers and they were backed up 2-6 weeks. I called Firestone and they said they were able to do it for me. When I picked it up I heard a ticking sound from the right side of the engine. They told me it was cam phaser and they couldn't take care of it. I called Ford again but they are still in the same situation, but they told me if I brought it in they would listen to it. They said it couldn't be anything to do with the timing or the cam phaser. They said it sounded like a belt tensioner or idler pulley. My mechanic replaced both and the sound is still there.
He's telling me it's possible that when doing the fuel injector cleaning something could have gotten damaged.
Doing a Google search I found that manufacturers often advise dealers not to perform fuel injector cleaning because it can cause unintended damage.
My question here is does any of this sound feasible? The more people I go to the more finger pointing I get.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
