2003 Mustang V6/auto cruise control.
I bought a 2003 Mustang V6/auto about 6 weeks ago. It is in beautiful condition, paint is near perfect and original. 97,000 miles. Everything works fine. I just finished up giving it a complete service, all fluids, brakes, belt and tensioner, wiper blades, etc. It came with new tires. I wasn't all that concerned about the cruise control, because I have a 2006 MGM for long trips. My right leg is messed up due to a work related accident, and I cannot hold the pedal down for too long without severe leg cramps. Now I'm thinking about driving it on a 3000 mile round trip. I won't be able to do that without the cruise control. Any ideas as to where to start looking?
If you have the owner's manual it shows 3 fuses that are involved with the cruise control I would check those first. See page 118
If you don't have the owner's manual you can download a copy from,
Just type in , fleetford.com .
There you can see the location of the fuses involved. If all are OK ,make sure the stoplite sw on the master cyl is working correctly. The signal must pass through the switch in order for the servo to work. If the sw is open it thinks the brake has been applied and cancels cruise , not allowing it to operate.
