2.9/Auto dies when put in reverse

My truck dies when put in reverse. I don't think that it has anything to do with temperature. Anybody have any ideas?

the only thing i can think of is there might be something wrong with the reverse on your transmission, if it's an automatic, there might be a wiring problem somewhere along the steering shaft
