Default 2000 Ranger Loses Power

Greetings, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My 2000 Ranger has the 4.0 auto and lately it has been giving me fits by it's loss of power at random times it will be running fine and for reasons unknown it just loses it's will to continue for a brief period of time and then recovers and runs fine again. It does no good to let up on the gas or floor it, nothing changes. I don't have any fault codes showing up when this happens but I have had a few on occasion that say it had detected lean conditions and one time I got a CO code but I don't recall what the numbers were. My thinking has been maybe the CO sensers were going bad and the goofy thing is trying to compensate somehow. I am also have an issue with it "chirping" in the engine compartment and at time the chirp turns to a nasty and very load squeal briefly and reverting back to the chirping. Anyone care to take a shot at this? Thanks in advance.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]Sound's like the fuel pump is going out on you.[hr]As for the chirping/squeal it sounds like a bad idler pully.

Wow I didn't realize how many and much a little fuel pump can set you back. Curious as to why and electric pump is inside the fuel tank though. I don't suppose there is any way of checking an intermittent pump issue is there? As for the chirp/squeal issue there is no problem with the idler pulley and the noise is coming from the rear of the engine area thus making it very difficul to pinpoint. Thanks

You are able to test the pump but it would probly only show up when acting up.[hr]As for the chirp did you check for vacuum leak's?
