Default 2002 F-250 loses power going up hills..

This is a mystery as the computer is not producing any codes. This 2002 F-250 truck has a 5.4 engine and is 2wd. What would cause it to lose power going up a hill? Bad fuel filter? I just got this truck.

We always try to start with the simple things first. Things like fuel filter, spark plugs ,air filter are routine maintenance items and might be considered first. Did you manage to obtain any maintenance records with the truck?

We did replace the coil pack, so we will go ahead and replace the air filter and the fuel filter. So, if we replace both filters, and the symptom still exists, what else would it be? Hopefully the filter replacements will work.

This truck came from an auction so thus no maintenance records.

Thanks for your response.

I believe this truck has the coil on plug ignition system, ie one coil for every spark plug.
Please explain "coil pack".
How many miles are on the odometer?
If more than 50,000- 60,000 miles, you should consider replacing the spark plugs strongly suggest Motorcraft plugs. Fords don't like other brand plugs, not kidding !

Sorry I meant a pack of coils so each spark plug got one.

This truck has 230,000 miles on it. So we will be replacing the spark plugs also with motorcraft. This truck will not be kept for too long, just maybe a year till I get a newer one.
