2001 Ranger
I have a 2001 3.0 4x4 ranger that just quit running. WONT START! HELP! The symptoms before it quit are, it would hesitate for a split second sometimes it would do it two or three times, then would operate fine. It has 230,000 miles and I maintain it well. It has a new timing chain and gears. HELP!

Welcome to the forum.
Fuel, spark, compression….
Do you have fuel pressure on the fuel rail? You can rent a fuel pressure gauge from most auto parts stores. Do you hear a low hum from the fuel tank when you first turn the key (before start)?
Do you have spark at the plugs? A spark tester is rather inexpensive and a must in any tool box, it plugs in between the plug and plug wire, as you crank you should see the light inside flashing; check all cylinders.
Do you have compression on all cylinders? You can rent a compression gauge at most auto parts stores and it screws into the spark plug hole. You then turn the engine over a few times and post the readings for each cylinder.
Sorry but not being with the car it is difficult to diagnose. These are the bare basics that every engine requires to run, narrowing it to one or the other will allow everyone here to know which path to take and offer more suggestions.
Good luck
