My son has a 1992 Ford Ranger. The problem we have with it is when you put the truck into reverse, it hesitates, then it will go into reverse with a hard jerk or slam . It does this all the time, but only when it go into reverse. Would someone know what this is?

 

My 02 is a little slow to reverse and if you touch the gas before it engages it will jump as well. If you have not already done so try reverse hold the brake and give it 15 seconds or better then gas. If it is still doing the same you may have bigger issues.
