92 ford ranger runs rough wont go 55
92 ford ranger hard to start ,runs rough ,cant press gas pedal fast r it will kill ,dont go over 55mph, took off cat still does same thing, pressed valve on fuel rale holds alot of presure.removed gas line turn on key gas comes out fuel line, plugs, wires distributer cap and roter new.unplug map sencer idles smother but still dont accelirate fast, clean map sencer, still same.please help new to ford
Have you run codes on it, looked at it with a scanner, or anything like that? If it acts like it is starving for fuel, then I would suspect the MAF meter or BMAP sensor if it uses one. I don't remember if they still used the BMAP in 92, but that is a good starting point. [sm=mail.gif]
being i have no insurence and town being a half hour away i havent put it on a comp.i think i will just change all the sencers untill it starts running good, and if it doesnt idk what ill do,
Well, that sounds like a very expensive way to fix a problem. Does it have a check engine lite on? You can buy a code reader cheaper than you can buy almost any sensor for this thing and at least have a starting point. Just an idea
How old is the fuel? Some of the gas sold nowdays looses it's power significantly within just a few weeks of time if not used up. If nothing else seems to work, maybe drain the tank and start with some fresh gas. Good luck.
the check engine light is on,and they had very little old fuel in it so i added new fuel and octane boost,im starting the think my brother installed the timeing chain wrong are stabbed the distrubuter wrong when he replaced it?would it still run?
