94 ranger 2 wheel dr , engine lights stays on, had codes read , 224 SPOUT circuit open, and 335 EGR (PFE) sensor voltage out of range. finally learned today that SPOUT is spark plug output and am aware of a wire that runs from the ignition control module to the PCM . What do I need to look for. BTY 210,000 on vehicle, recently replaced o2 sensor, don't know how I'll ever get the plugs changed as those hd cable seem impossible to remove, yes i did purchase a tool for it. any hints appreciated.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]Code 224 is Failure in ignition coil primary circuit -[hr] Code 213 is the spout open or shorted.[hr]EGR feedback signal is/was out of range.[hr]I would replace the coil pack and the PFE sensor.

is there an error in the Haynes book? That is where it siacd taht 224 was "Spout circuit open".

Thanks, you are correct on 224, the haynes book on the ranger does have a misprint. I will be persuing the coil paks as the source of the problem.
