Default 98 radio question

[:@] bought a 98 ford ranger xlt the other week and it has a stock radio in it and i took the speaker covers off in the back of the cab and no speakers but found the wires tested with circuit tester and had power both sides (hooked up known to be good cause i tested them before i tried to put them in speakers)
well after i had them hooked up no sound ou tof them so i tested them again and yep stil had power

on stock radio there is only a push to turn on **** with volumn control other side of radio is just seek and tune buttons cant find thre fade or balance ****

any ideas as to why the speakers will not produce sounds ???[:@][:-]

maybe they are just blown. i dont know. if the radio is the same as mine in my 00 it will have buttons next to where the time is for fade and what not. otherwise i would get a speaker that works and hook it to the wires and see if its just the speaker. it sounds like your speaker is completely shot that is why its not working. ask mulletman hes a ford tech.

You mean those wires have 12V DC power? They are not speaker wires then.

If they were just taped up, then that is not factory. Maybe someone had some neon lights or something in there.

The factory speaker wires maybe pushed down into the panel somewhere. It might be a pain, but you may have to remove the panel to find them.
