Let's see, im 19.... i have a 97' 4.0l ranger 4x4 el-t(xl-t)w/e i just got it yesterday from my uncle it's fully loaded and has 332000HIGHWAY km .... ummm i took it off a small side road and used the 4x4. (by the way my first time) i was with a friend and we got stuck. trying to rock it forwards and back trying to get it out i started to hear a whirrrrrrrrrr type sound and the forward drive didnt work ... but yet in reverse the tires were spinning. i would like to know if anyone know's what i have F****D up on my truck and what more performant part i could replace it with and the price tags (if anyone can help) like i said i know nothing of ford and i just got the truck 7 hours prior to blowing whateverit is i blew anyways

Sounds like you've damaged either the tranny or the tranny case. You might have stripped some
of the cogs off the gears. Take it to a good shop and get them to look at the transmission and/or
transfer case.

Where are you located that the odomitter reads in km's?
As for a what happened, I would say the tranny. you don't say if it is auto, so I am going on that it is. your options would be to get a rebuilt tranny (after 332000km or 206,000 miles it was probably time anyway), get a rebuilt and have a tranny specialist build it up stronger, get a stronger auto or get a good indistructable five speed. probably all you need is a rebuilt tranny- it was worn out, and unless the engine is producing more power than it came from the factory with, it should stand up to another 206,000 miles.
