almost chokes out when acceleration from a stop

almost chokes out when acceleration from a stop

My son has a 99 Ranger and we just changed the plugs and air filter. He says that when he accelerates from a stop, it starts to choke out and then runs great. HELP!

Fuel filter? Did it do this before the tuneup? What motor?
