Changing a Fuel Filter

Changing a Fuel Filter
Hi Everyone. I have a very simplet question.
How difficult is it to change the fuel filter on a 1995 2.3 4cyl reg cab Ranger? I am sure the vehichle I am about to buy has the original fuel filter with 133K on it. Does anyone have a picture handy? I am not the most mechanically inclined, but I would like to try it myself. Does it require any special tool? Can I just go to Walmart and buy a Fram, or does it require a special kind of fuel filter?
Thanks everyone!
Dave

RE: Changing a Fuel Filter
Here is the fuel filter for your truck it is located on the frame under the drivers side.[hr]You will need a screwdriver to loosen the clamp and a smaller screwdriver to pull out the retainer clips that hold it in.[hr]When reinstalling take not the filter may have a flow direction.

RE: Changing a Fuel Filter
It is a good idea to de-pressurize the system before removing the filter so that you don't get sprayed with fuel. There is a valve on the intake, it looks like a valve on an inner tube and usually has a plastic screw cap on it. Just remove the cap and press in the valve to release the pressure in the fuel system. Put a rag over it while you do this because it will spit out some fuel, not much, but just to keep it from getting on yourself. It will make you job alot more pleasant.
