dome light
i have a 95 Ford Ranger XLT, and I had to take my dome lights out because they wouldnt shut off and kept running down my battery, and when i try to put them back in I have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RE: dome light
comon problem! the problem is your door switch, put wd40 (or lube oil) on the door switches which are located on the door inside the latch, be generous with it and then wipe up the excess from the paint, then open and close the door several times. or you could go through the trouble of taking the switches out and replacing them ( pain in the ***) they are like $15 at the dealership a piece. I did it to my truck 2 years ago and no problems yet. mind you if the light stays on even after this shortcut then should probably replace the switches.

RE: dome light
i replaced the switches 8X before the wd40 treatment they tended to get stuck in the open position, only hapened in the winter time too when it got really cold. if you replace the switches you will have the same problem, dirt and water will get in there and it gets stuck!

I had the same problem in my 97 xlt. If you don't have time to spray or replace em' you could always pull the fuse till you get some more time. Yeah, I know its kinda obvious, but if you're in a pinch... (Look at the owners manula for the exact location of the fuse).
