We have a 99 ranger extended cab, 4.0, at, power locks, power windows, 4x4,and the door ajar light on the dash and interior dome light intermitently stayson. Some times the lights work just fine, others the lights stay on for some time. I started to troubleshooting it and was cleaning the front door latches/switches and it seemed as if the lights were working fine. some times the lights went off within 5 seconds other times they went off after 10 seconds. 30 minutes later they started staying on for quite some time. These lights are either on or they are off they don't flicker when your driving. I was looking at a wiring diagram and cannot find the battery saver relay or interior lamp relay or the generic electronic module(gem/central timer module) to start checking them.does any one know where these relays are? or have any idea where else i should check to fix this problem. Spray a cleaning solution around the door latch. When you feel it is clean spray in some silicone spray. The door and light switch is in the door latch mechanism and they need to cleaned.

 

i have a 2003 ranger ext cab and on the half doors on the bottom where the driver door meets it is a sensor for the door ajar that could be failing which would give you your intermitent problem
