Default Engine Getting Hot

Hello Everyone,

Well its HOT now in AZ and most breakdowns happen now

I have a 1999 Ranger with a 3.0L non-flex engine, it is starting to read a high temp on the tempeture gauge when the A/C is on.

I am thinking that its the fan clutch because I was on the freeway at night and the A/C was on and it was getting hot.

If I drive without the A/C on the temp gauge well stay just below the middle all day long but when I turn on the A/C she goes to HIGH, once the A/C is off its back to the middle.

Don't know if thats the fan clutch or the thermostate, ANY IDEALS

Thanks

Could be fan clutch. Have you ever had the cooling system flushed and "NEW" coolant installed? This can also cause you problems as the radiator/coolant is trying to remove heat from the engines outer extremities on top of the heat that is being removed by the A/C condensor.
