Default Engine swap

I was wondering if anyone has replaced a 1990 Ford Rangers (2.9L engine) with a 5.0 engine? I've heard it's been done before, I just want sme more info on it so I know if it's something Im willing to tackle myself. Thank you.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]I would think the trans would not line up but you will also have to change the[ul][*] computer[*] wiring[*] exaust[*] mount's[*] hose's[*] It has been done before but i thought you might want to know what you are getting to.

get a donor car for wiring and emissions parts as well as engine and trans , there are kits on the market for the mechanical side, you will need "advanced hobbyist " skills to acomplish this job. BOTTOM LINE trade for a newer 4.0L 5spd ranger ['98 or newer] and you'll have "V8" power in a great package for less money and hassle.
