I have a 94 3.0l 4x4 in the past 2 years i have pretty much rebuilt this truck. broke a cam shaft spring of 05 and replaced the wheel bearings twice, now they are going again. this will make for the 3rd time in a year. what would be causing my wheel bearings to wear so quickly? and i also have a loud bang on the front right side traveling when there is a quick change in suspension, like going over a large hill quickly. what would be causing these two concerns?

 

Don't give up on it...it's an old truck, but think of what you'd pay for payments on a new one! My 94 4.0L 4WD had it's front end basically rebuilt just after I bought it about a year ago. When you change the wheel bearings, make sure you replace the races too. If you've done that, the spindle nut torque is somewhat difficult to get just right. If you have automatic hubs, the lock washer and pin probably don't line up at what you think is the prober torque. Go to the next hole in the tightening direction. If you have manual hubs, the jam nut can work loose, make sure it's tightened properly without turning the spindle nut.

As for the loud bang, I'd guess you have a Radius Arm Bushing wearing out. Especially on the passengers side. The exhaust is real close to it. It's probably deteriorated down to nothing due to heat, and you're hitting metal-to metal. If so, you need to change it soon or a complete arm replacement will be necessary. To inspect, take the big nut off the aft end of the arm and pull off the heat shield and you can see half of the bushing. I put OEM bushings on mine, but wish I'd put aftermarket ones on. I think they're more durable.
