Default headlights on 95 ranger

my headlights went out the other day. i checked the bulbs and they were fine. i checked all the fuses and they were all fine. i even tried replacing the headlight switch and that didn't work. any ideas on what the problem might be?

Default RE: headlights on 95 ranger

that happened on my 88, took apart steering column thinking the high beam switch was busted, and found that the piece where the headlight wires come in(check your manual's wire map) was melted. i scraped out the melted plastic and put it back it, i think a replacement would have to come from a dealer or junk yard, i asked at a few napas and auto zones and no luck on a replacement, you may also be able to splice to headlight wires out and skip the high beams temporarily, also, this was suggested by a electric shop mechanic. good luck
