new rims, new speedometer?

new rims, new speedometer?
I have a 96' 4.0 that is 2wd and I found some 15' american racing rims with 235 75R15 tires on them. I know if I change my originals with these my speedo will be inaccurate. Can I change my speed sensor with one from an edge edition? If I don't, will this affect my odometer? Thanks

RE: new rims, new speedometer?
What size are your OEM tires? Have you run a calculator to determine the difference? I got rid of the OEM JUNK Goodyear Integrity'swith a little over3,000 miles on the van. Went from 235/60-16 to 225/75-16 on my Freestar with no issues. Presently have 39,800 miles on the van with about the last 36,500 miles running the 225/75-16 tires. The diameter difference is about 7.45% taller which makes my odometer read about 5MPH slower than actual speed. I've never changed anything but the tires and have never had any drivability issues.

You have increase rim size by one inch and your tire profile by 7.5mm the overall effect is a about 10% increase in tire circumference which means you would likely see about 6 to 8 mph decrease in speedometer and odometer readings a 60mph. As well as less off the line get go............
