spindle nut torque?

i have a 99 ranger 2wd ive had the spindle nut too tight and too loose how is the right way to do it?

Initial...17/24 ft lbs. CC rotation

Back off 175 deg.

Finial torque 17 in. lbs. CW rotation

Notice that the reading is in INCH POUNDS (NOT FOOT POUNDS)- so you don't burn your bearings.
