Default Temerature Sending Unit 2001 2.3L Ranger

I'm having difficulty locating my Temperature sending unit for my gauge on my 2001 2.3L ford ranger. I have a haynes and chilton manual. They are both telling me that "is located at the rear of the engine mounted into the coolant outlet pipe" I'm not sure where this pipe is located. I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks in advance!

I found and replaced it. Hard to get to, it is on the pipe at the back of the engine passenger side almost center. about 2" off of the firewall directly under the wiring harness. I had to remove the distribution module, Heater hose and unplug many other sensors as well as the plug to the computer to move the wire harness. Need deep well 7/8" socket swivel and wobble extensions helped. No straight shot at this one. I hope this is useful to someone.
