Is there a ranking of brands of re-manufactured engines? I was looking at HiPerformer. They offer a 100,000 miles 7 year warranty.

Looking at HiPerformer's specs and failure rate, that would be the way to go if you plan on keeping this Ranger for any length of time. The only have a 1.6% failure rate verses 6%. Their 2.9L engines also use new head castings verses reman'd heads. Price is also very reasonable at $1680. You could get a 4.0L for an extra $400. Price and warranty beats them all.
