trans shifter

2010 sport trac auto trans that can be shifted out of park without key in the ignition. any help with that?

I would suspect the shift interlock solenoid under the console is stuck in the released position, or if it never worked before , has been disabled.

Agreed. I think the part number is 9L2Z-7E096-A (#9L2Z7E096A: ACTUATOR ASY), named the "brake shift lock actuator" by Ford. Please correct me if I am wrong hanky because the description in the catalogue is vague.... A bit of an FYI, the part is on nationwide backorder with Ford. It is not scheduled for release until the end of March beginning of April.
