Default what happens when one changes gap on spark plugs?

Hi, I have a 92' Ford Ranger with 2.9 V6. I just put new spark plugs in. So what is the result when you increase or decrease the gap in spark plugs according to manufacturer spec?

Also, I didn't bend the electrodes to make sure each plug gap measurment matched perfectly. As a result some plugs may be .044 and some may be .045. Is this a big deal? The misfiring stopped and the engine runs fine now.

Thanks,
Dave

The gap will can effect the plugs by causing the to fowl faster, the larger the gap the more electriciy need to make a strong spark.
