02 Sable sounds like no exhaust
Hello all, I am new to the forum though I browsed quite a bit. I didn't find a question like mine, so here it goes.
I have an 02 Sable 3.0, for a few months it was making a light"ticking" sound form the engine area. The ticking would speed up when my rpm's would go up.
Dealer said it was most likely my alternator, so I didn't get it in right away.
I was pulling out of my driveway and it made a loud "pop" and now sounds like (the only way I can think to describe it) it has no exhaust or maybe a knocking sound. The sound seems to be coming form the rear (near windshield) upper portion of the engine.
The car has been parked for I fear driving it to the shop (I don't want to hurt the car more).
Sound like anything anyone might know?
Can I drive it to the dealer/shop? Or should I get it towed?
Thank you in advance!

Sounds like you popped the silicone hose off of the exhaust line that feeds up to the DPFE sensor on the back side of the engine. One side of the DPFE is fed off of the exhaust and the other goes to the EGR valve. If the hose is off, then you have a plugged or partially plugged converter(s).
