I have a 93 taurus gl with a vulcan in it that needs replacing. I will be taking it to a shop to do so. I am wondering if they could instead replace it with a 3.0 duratec and matching trans without breaking the bank.

 

just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the vulcan you have? I would explore the idea of getting a used vulcan from a auto junk yard and swapping those if it were me.

 

It may be more cost effective to purchase another Taurus/Sable rather than spending a lot of money in repair bills, and engine swaps for a 20 yr. old car.

Be advised, however, that these cars suffer from a high frequency of automatic transmission failures.
