2001 Taurus Sel Questions Just Got Car
Hello,
I just got this 01 taurus sel last week and it failed for Ma inspection. It failed for front strutts. The dealer put on 2 new strutts and 1 spring which he said was the problem. He told me he was going to fix the AC but i think he really doesn't plan on it. It took hime a week to do the strutts. Anyways when i put on the Ac or the defroster the rpms go up and down every few seconds. I was told this was because there was no pressure in the ac compressor. My biggest problem was there was a ratteling sound when the car was in park or when i would stop at red lights. I thought it was the engine and told him about this problem when he took it for strutt repair. He was in a rush to get the car reinspected becuase the noise was minimal. He told me it was because the oil was very low which i knew was bull because i checked it. Well the ratteling sound is coming back. Now i am losing power and when i do 75mph my rpms are at 3000. Someone told me it was the catylic converter. I did research on the net. On you tube someone had a bad cat posted to hear and it sounds identicle to the rattle i have. Luckly i did not get my car reinspected yet. The rattle is still minimal but you can hear it when im in park and i rev car to 2 or 3 rpms. The sound is more continus when i put on the AC and the idle goes up and down you can hear the rattle. Do you think the inspector for emmisions will listen and know that it is a cat going bad? There are no engine lights or nothing but i have a real good feeling it's the cat by listening to it and the loss of power. I just thank god it's not the engine like i thought. This dealer is shady and he told me there was NO warranty. By Mass law they told me i have 30 days or 1250 miles and it does not start till i sign the paper and get a copy.,But if he gets his way and the cats not that bad yet. I will have to pay for a AC compressor and a cat convertor and i think these both are exspensive. So should i get it inspected tommorow? Do you think by the rattling sound they will fail it emmisions? Thankyou very much
