97 Taurus GL - A/C-Heat Clicking Noise
There's a clicking noise when my A/C/ Heat **** is turned all the way to max. temperature(sounds like a really loud blinker, similar to that of a CJ7 Jeep, if you've ever heard that). The clicking completely stops when I turn the **** in between any other settings on the dial. What do you think might be the problem?

There is a blend door motor that controls the amount of heat that is put out by the heater. hen you have it turned all the way to max, there is a small gear inside that is broken and will not allow the motor to stop correctly. The noise you are hearing is the little plastic gear catching on a broken spot and releasing. The blend door motor is ocated under the dash just to the right side of center. It should be a white plastic piece that is approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. There is one 6 wire connector that plugs into it. I think, not absolutely sure, there are 4 little bolts that hold it in place. Good luck.

Thank you so much!!! [sm=love.gif] Do I have to remove the dash, or can I access the motor from underneath? Also, is there more than one of these blend door motors? I want to make sure I order the correct part from the dealership.

There is only one. I think dealer is the only way to get a new one. You can access it from under the dash without removing any part of the dash. Go at it from the passenger side and you will see it. Just take your time and look before you jerk on anything, and you should be able to complete it in around an hour for a first timer. Good luck and let us know if anything else is needed. Hope this picture helps some'
