'99 Taurus Random Wiper Sweeps

The wipers on my '99 taurus with no input from driver intermittently sweep. Sometimes it coincides after using my turn signal, and other times it is completely random. Any suggestions?

It is possible the multifunction switch is causing the problem. It is fairly easy to replace.
