A/C rubber smell

A/C rubber smell
2004 Taurus SES
Smell of burning rubber (or close to it) started coming from my A/C yesterday. No cool air after that. Smell is still there even on vent w/o A/C being on. Have an appt at the local dealer tomorrow. Any thoughts?
